Description

Offenhauser Turbocharged racing engine 1:6 die cast metal display model by GMP. A 189 cubic inch Offenhauser “Offy” racing engine and gear box with original box. This like new model looks great with the original box and display stand no acrylic cover. This powerful racing engine dominated the open wheel racing scene for almost 50 years. When Ford came onto the scene in 1963 the Offy started to loose its domination but it remained competitive thru the mid 1970’s by turbo charging. The 2.65 liter four cylinder engine could develop over 1000 Horsepower. The final Offy victory in Championship racing came at Trenton in 1978 in Gordon Johncocks Wildcat race car. Very nicely mounted and collectible, rare limited numbered edition decorative piece for desk or man cave. 6.5 in long by 4 .5 in. wide, weighs about 5 pounds and has a nicely finished display plaque with acrylic cover. Base is 7 in. x 9 in. with a felt pads. This is really a quality piece and will require light assembly. This is a very limited production of 500.
