Celebrating 50 years, it won many AMA Championships and was originally used by Evel Knievel for most of his famous jumps. Harley redesigned the 750 engine to improve cooling with aluminum heads in 1972. This ended the domination of foreign competitors and The 750 XR was the choice of the Champions. 29 0f 37 AMA Grand National Championships from 1972 to 2008.
