GMP 1970 Mc Laren M8 D race car Dan Gurney Chevy Can Am race car in 1:18 scale original boxes and photo. This beautiful like new 9 inch long car has great color and details. Box shows light storage wear. Gurney won the first two races of the year but had to give up his ride because of sponsor conflicts. This car and its predecessors and successors ABCEF were developed by Bruce McLaren. The car dominated the Can Am series until the arrival of the Porsche 917 in the early 70’s. The V8 Chevy engines started at 630 HP and eventually increased to a max of 670 HP. Bruce McLaren lost his life on June 2 1970 at a testing session testing the M8 D at the Goodwood Circuit in England when some body work lifted off the car at speed. The loss of down forced caused the high speed fatal crash. Bruce won the Cam Am Championship in 1967 and 69. SHIPS FAST AND FREE IN US
