1981 Porsche 935 K4 race car #00 driven by Danny “On the Gas” Ongais in 1:18 scale by Werk83. The model measures approximately 9 inches long and comes in its original box.
Danny began in drag racing before competing in race cars and motorcycles. Known for his speed, he earned the nickname “On the Gas” despite experiencing difficult luck throughout his career. He suffered a serious fiery crash at Indy in 1981 but continued racing. Ongais competed in the Indy 500 three times, raced in six Formula 1 events, and took part in countless sports car events. His most successful IndyCar season was 1978, when he won five races.
Ongais was the only Hawaiian to compete at Indy and the only driver to win both the NHRA U.S. Nationals and the Daytona 24. He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Hawaiian Sports Hall of Fame in 2000 and 2001.
